Anyone can produce five stunning frames. Ask to see two or three full wedding galleries from start to finish. Consistency across an entire day, in light, emotion and editing, is the truest measure of skill.
2. Make sure the style matches yours
Photography styles range from traditional and posed to candid and editorial. Decide what you want to feel when you look back, then find a photographer whose natural style already matches. Don't expect them to work against their instinct on the day.
3. Ask the practical questions
- Do you bring a second shooter and backup equipment?
- What happens if you're ill on our wedding day?
- How and when are images delivered?
- Have you photographed our kind of ceremony before?
- Can we speak to a recent couple?
4. Value experience and reliability
An established studio offers something a solo freelancer often can't: backup teams, decades of pattern recognition, and calm under pressure. On a day that only happens once, reliability is priceless.
